Steps to follow when registering to export deciduous fruit to the Special Market [USA (organic grapes, apples and pears), Mexico (apples and pears), Israel (table grapes) and Taiwan (apples)].
i. Only Production Unit(s) and Packhouse (s) registered with the Department of Agriculture (DoA) with approved FBO codes (PUC and PHC) are allowed to register for a Special Market.
ii. PUC and PHC can be verified at the following website: www.nda.agric.za, Regulatory and Other Services, Quality Control, Food Business Operator Codes (PUC’s) - FBO codes (PUC). If the code is approved, the next step can be followed:
iii. Download the special market registration documents at the following website and complete: www.nda.agric.za, Regulatory and Other Services, National Plant Protection Organization, Export Programmes, Deciduous Fruit Export to the Special Market 2007.
iv. The Production Unit registration document must be couriered (not faxed or mailed) to the DoA before the closing date. Application documents received after the closing dates will not be accepted and processed.
v. After the closing date, DoA will verify the couriered registration documents and if the document is complete the PUC will be processed further. Incomplete registration documents will not be processed.
vi. No notice will be given to successful applicants. It is the responsibility of the relevant role player(s) to ensure that the information displayed in the 2006/2007 database is correct.
vii. Approved PUC and PHC for 2006/2007 can be checked at the following website: www.nda.agric.za, Regulatory and Other Services, National Plant Protection Organization, Export Programmes, Deciduous Fruit Database.
The following information and documentation applicable to the 2006/2007 export season are attached for your attention and relevant action:
· NB: All Production Units registrations must complete the whole document irrespective of exports and registration for previous 2005/2006 season
· The completed registration documents must be couriered (not mailed or faxed) to Room 440/458/459, Directorate Plant Health, Department of Agriculture, 30 Hamilton Street, Harvest House, Arcadia, 0002.
Closing Dates for Registration
i. Israel: Table Grapes - 29 September 2006
ii. Preliminary registration for China (table grapes): 29 September 2006
iii. Deciduous fruit to the USA, Mexico and Taiwan - 27 October 2006

Please take note that this information is applicable to 2006/2007 season, and it cannot be assumed that a production unit is registered for 2007/2008 when using this database.
