fruit export to the special markets. Registration of FBO codes (PUC,
Packing Houses and Inspection points)
Steps
to follow when registering to export Citrus fruit to the Special Market namely
1.
Only
Production Unit(s) and Packhouse (s) registered with the Department of
Agriculture (DoA) Directorate Food Safety and
Quality Assurance with approved codes (PUC and PHC) are allowed to
register for a Special Market.
2.
PUC and
PHC can be verified at the following website: www.nda.agric.za,
Regulatory and Other Services, Quality Control, Food Business Operator Codes
(FBO’s) - FBO codes (PUC). If the code is approved, the next
step can be followed:
3.
Download
the special market registration documents at the following website and complete:
www.nda.agric.za,
Regulatory and Other Services, National Plant Protection Organization, Export
Programmes, Citrus Fruit Export to the Special Market 2006.
4.
The
Production Unit registration document must be
couriered (not faxed or mailed)
to CITRUS GROWERS ASSOCIATION (CGA)
before the closing date.
5.
After the
closing date, CGA will check and
monitor the couriered registration documents and send them to DoA (Directorate
Plant Health (DPH) to verify.
6.
DoA
(Directorate Agricultural Products Inspection Services (APIS)
will evaluate the production unit(s) for compliance.
7.
After
evaluation, only accepted or complying PUC will be updated on the website
accordingly and the word “TRUE” will appear. For rejected or unregistered
PUC, word “FALSE” will appear.
8.
Incomplete,
incorrect, illegible and rejected registration documents will not be processed.
9.
No notice
will be given to successful applicants. It is the responsibility of the relevant
role player(s) to ensure that the information displayed in the 2005/2006
database is correct.
10.
Approved
PUC and PHC for 2005/2006 can be checked at the following website: www.nda.agric.za,
Regulatory and Other Services, National Plant Protection Organization, Export
Programmes, Deciduous Fruit Database.
The
following information and documentation applicable to the 2005/2006 export
season are attached for your attention and relevant action:

(farms) for the 2006 export season for your attention and relevant actions.

Export
agents forwarding their producers' registration documentation must provide a
cover letter in which all the producers' information (producers name and farm
name) and Production Unit Codes (PUCs) are listed.

The
following points on the registration document, point 5, is of the utmost
importance:
2.1
Registration of a production unit will NOT be considered if:
a.
The
registration document is illegible (information to be typed or completed in
clear block letters),
b.
Information
is insufficient,
c.
Documentation
is received after the closing date,
d.
Documentation
is faxed
2.3
All
pages are to be signed at the appropriate places, and initialized at the bottom
of each page
2.4
The Directorate Plant Health and APIS shall not be held responsible for any
financial or other losses as a result of non-compliance by the producer or the
exporter for providing incorrect, insufficient and/or illegible information.

NB: Please take note that this
information was applicable to the past 2004/2005 season, and it cannot be
assumed that a production unit is registered for 2006 when using this database.
The updated 2005/2006 database will be on the website once registration and
confirmation have been finalized and can be viewed as follows: www.nda.agric.za,
