Indonesian Decree No: 27/ Permentan/PP.340/5/2009

This serves to notify South African exporters of products of plant origin to Indonesia about the Indonesian import and export requirements, as prescribed in the Indonesian Decree, the Regulation of Minister of Agriculture No. 27/Permentan/PP.340/5/2009 with implementation date 19 August 2009.

The Decree lays down regulation regarding food safety control over the import and export of fresh food of plant origin.

The objective of the regulation is to carry out control of food safety on importation and exportation through the following options

•  Recognition of Fresh Food of Plant Origin (FFPO) safety control system of the country of origin.

•  Equivalence agreement between Indonesia and the FFPO country of origin or destination country

•  Recognition of FFPO safety control in the production site or,

•  Inspection toward every importing / exporting FFPO.

The South Africa Government through the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will engage with Indonesian counter parts to explore the various options in order to ensure smooth trade.

Be informed that with effect from 19 August 2009 all consignments to Indonesia need to have a Certificate of Analysis, which can be obtained from Departmental Analytical Laboratories. The contacts are as follows:
